Do You Think People Can Truly Change?
Dear Infinity,
I’ve been struggling with a question that keeps me up some nights: Do people really change? I’ve made mistakes — big ones — and I’ve hurt people I care about. But I’m trying. I’m working hard to become someone I can be proud of. Still, some people in my life won’t let me forget the past. They say “once a liar, always a liar,” and it breaks me inside.
Do you believe in second chances? How do you rebuild when everyone around you is stuck on who you used to be?
— Trying to Turn the Page
Dear Trying,
Yes — people can change. You are proof of that. The fact that you’re asking this question with so much sincerity tells me your heart is already on the right path.
The hardest part about growth is that sometimes the people around us are slower to see the change than we are to feel it. Don’t let their doubt become your truth. You don’t need their permission to become someone new.
Keep showing up. Keep doing the work. The ones meant to be in your life will either grow with you or fall away — and both are blessings in disguise.
You’re not your past. You’re the choice you make today. And I see someone beautiful, honest, and evolving.
With love and faith in you,
Infinity
